This was sick! Vivid and uplifting. Creamy ripe yellow apple, white orchard flowers and half baked bread dough. Conveys nothing but class and complexity. From the eye guy @Andrew Steffensmeier — 5 years ago

La Grande Dame Brut Champagne Blend 2006

A very enjoyable although not quite profound bottle. Rich brioche with citrus and pear notes. A crisp finish framed by nice acidity. Perhaps this should rest a few more years, or maybe it’s just the vintage as I’ve not had an 06 yet that was really bringing it. — 5 years ago

Simply an amazing closer to the evening with very good friends. Thank you Christina for opening. This is really delicious now but, will continue to improve over the next 20 years.

The nose reveals; yellow florals & lilies, sea spray, sea fossils, some of the most amazing chalkiness you can experience, lemon, lime zest, pineapple juice, green melons, grapefruit with pith, vanilla notes, orange blossoms, touch of of apple cider, woody notes, brioche with spring florals with greens.

The body is delicate, rich, yet restrained. Micro oxygenation, beautiful mousse, sea spray, sea fossils, some of the most amazing soft chalkiness you can experience, lemon, lime zest, pineapple juice, green melons, passion fruit, grapefruit with pith, vanilla notes, lanolin, orange blossoms, touch of of apple cider, woody notes, brioch, elegant beauty, richness, excellent acidity, balance, length and polish for days.

Photos of; Grand Cru Vineyard of Piper-Heidsieck, fermentation tanks, well aged library bottles we’d all like to open and the House of Piper-Heidsieck.

All shock and awe upon initial pop but eventually settles into a lovely groove of chalk, citrus, fresh green apple, biscuit dough. Super fine and effortlessly powerful and balanced. Another five years would be of substantial benefit. Give it some breathing room if you can’t hold off. — 5 years ago
