The wine is a beauty with so much substance and layers but it was clearly not yet ready. Oak is very prevalent and not yet integrated. Although 2009 is often a very forward and open-knit vintage, this baby needs much more time to integrate.

An impressive, rich nose of ripe red fruit with cherry, a hint of black pepper and an undertow of darker blue stuff. A really beautiful, kalideascopic bouquet. There’s a lovely lifted quality here but the fruit is intense. On.the palate dense, and still hiding a lot, but this is glorious quality. Too young for this now, really- in a decade it’ll be spectacular... but the fruit is so slutty it’s a pleasure now anyway.

This was rich & fat showing great purity of fruits with black cherry, raspberry, game bird, smoke & Asian spice. Still very youthful, full bodied & mineral driven.
