Wine Situation Final Five

The Wine Situation hosts everyone from winemakers to writers to find out what a person’s situation is…with wine. At the end of each episode, host Ellen Clifford wants to know the basics of her guests’ final thoughts on wine, drink and food. This month Ellen talks with winemaker Morét Brealynn—and as an added bonus, use the code TheWineSituation to get 15% off her wines . QUESTION ONE Ellen: Question number one, whatcha drinking? What are you into these days? Morét: Because harvest has been pushed back, we’ve been able to go to a couple of wineries, Dehlinger and Littorai , and got a couple of different bottles there. And Lirac because we’re going to be making a wine from there, so we’re trying to familiarize ourselves more with what’s coming out from there. QUESTION TWO Ellen: Question number two is what is a favorite or unusual pairing? Morét: One of my favorite pairings is a Pringle with crème fraiche, a dollop of caviar, and some Champagne . That’s a fantastic one. QUESTION THREE Ellen: Question three…when not wine…and I know we’ve had margaritas and adult chocolate milk, but what do you like to drink when not drinking wine? Morét: Every morning starts with iced tea. I’m not a coffee drinker. Tazo black tea. We make a gallon pitcher and go through four or so a week. Then can’t go wrong with a double Jack and Coke. QUESTION FOUR Ellen: Question number four, what’s your favorite snack? Morét: Corn nuts. I get the variety pack—the basics, BBQ, ranch, chili picante…I keep those everywhere. QUESTION FIVE Ellen: Question number five, what’s bringing you joy? Morét: Honestly, just my life. I’m living my dream job. I get to do this cool thing every day, work in vineyards, and share wine with awesome people. There’s a lot to be thankful for in my day to day. *** You can find Morét on Instagram at @moretbrealynnwines or @moretbrealynn. Château de Ségriès

Lirac Grenache Blend 2015

Smells of crushed fruit and soil

Medium body

The Grenache is solid here - some candied red fruits, flinty river stone, violet, cedar like mouth puckering tannin, tongue dancing apricot acidity.
Always a good, stable producer.

Some days, you want something stronger than wine, and today has been well.......one of those days.

Old No.7 brand, since 1866, a sour mash whiskey favorite. Jack & Coke works for me.
