Quite enjoyable if less serious than past vintages of this blend. I liked it but the alcohol level was higher than I would have liked as I have been drinking 12-13% and the 2-2.5% really makes a difference. Ripe bing cherry and red licorice aromas waft from the glass with subtle but noticeable oak, and just the lightest twinge of spice. This is all sex and gloss, sorry but I was disappointed. The price has gone up but the quality has gone mainstream, or down fort my tastes.

Sito Moresco and tell me that you love me...

Actually, this is a beautiful little wine. Classic? No. Piedmontese? Maybe in an off-hand way. Yet stinking delicious.

Beautiful Nebbiolo nose with floral and dried herbs. Vibrant acidity and firm tannins with a full mouthfeel. Really a stunner.

2011 Gaja "Sito Moresco" Langhe - upon opening - Deep ruby core and rim. Aromas and flavors of wild strawberry, black cherry, leather, roses and earth. Dry, medium (-) body, medium acid and alcohol, moderate dried skin textured tannins. Softer textures and complexity begin to show after 30 minutes of breathing time. Savory spices and mineral laced layers of red and black fruits evolve as it opens. Solid and age-worthy Langhe. Come back in 5 years.

Elegant and light on its feet. Like bordeaux flavors and aromas with barolo silkiness.

One of the great joys of life is the massive burst of aroma when you open a good bottle of wine. The “site of Moresco” takes the cake with pure unadulterated aromas of perfectly ripe red berries. With a couple hours in an open bottle, the flavors of berries seamlessly transition to fresh dark rose petals. A subtle yet dramatic tinge of oak ties the experience together.

An excellent gift from an old colleague.
