Say hello to my first Armenian wine!

Very light golden in color.

Nice nose of citrus, earth, bread, spices, light vegetables, herbs and white pepper.

Full bodied with medium plus acidity and medium sized bubbles.

Dry on the palate with citrus, lemons, green apples, herbs, yeast, light spices, river rocks, earth and white pepper.

Nice length on the finish with tangy limes.

This is a delicious sparkling wine from Armenia. Nicely balanced with a nice mouthfeel.

Needs 20 minutes of airtime to open and show the complexity. As it opens up, more yeast notes show up.

Good by itself or with food. Neither bitter nor tart. Really nice. A good quality wine. Feels like a French Crémant.

Paired very nicely with a French Petit Brie cheese.

A blend of 60% Voskehat and 40% Khatouni. Made in the traditional method. Aged for 22 months on its lees.

12% alcohol by volume.

91 points.

$26.

First time doing outdoor dining thing since Covid and found this curious Armenian sparkling on the menu: granny smith apple 🍏, lime curd, Asian pear, crushed stone, and bread dough. Zesty acidity with medium+ finish and medium body. Sunday brunch bubbly of excellent value!! Old vines of 60% Voskehat and 40% khatouini on limestone. 18 months on lees.

Same botting date as LBT but much more character and finesse here. Assuming some post-disgorgement development. Champagne cellar saver! 🤫

Native grapes, crown in limestone soils, 1800 m altitude vineyards. 18 months of the lees. Mineral but with honed edges and a pleasing mousse.

I was at one of my local wine stores this week and saw this interesting sparkler from Armenia. Thought I had to give it a try with two interesting blend of grapes 60% Voskehat and 40% Khatouni Kharji both indigenous to the Vayots Dzor area of Armenia and grown on 60-100 year old vines.

On the nose there is beautiful citrus notes, lemon curd, strawberry, white flowers and creme brulee.

On the palate the citrus notes are confirmed, lemon, stone fruits, a salinity, minerality and a rich creaminess of vanilla.

This sparkler is medium bodied with loads of beautiful effervescents and fine bubbles that continue on forever. There is zesty high acidity which leads right to a clean fresh finish. For the price you cannot beat this. I hope everyone's start of the Christmas weekend has been an exciting one with thoughts of what's to come on Christmas day. Stay safe and enjoy your family and friends. Nostrovia! 🍾🍾🍾🍾
