From NZ's premier red wine area comes this Syrah that shows a fierce savoury attack, a lean, refreshing and tannic texture with admirable 12,5% and such a presence of complex, atractive flavours: sexy raspberry, cracked black pepper nose and a refreshing acidity. Excellent! #syrah #gimblettgravels #hawkesbay #newzealand

Medium deep ruby quite wide ruby , pink rim . Quite peppery black cherry jam , smoky bacon , dried herbs , touch of violet . On the palate quite cool and refreshing , those dark cherry fruits and black pepper notes , touch of anis and herbs . Quite prominent acidity and linear in mouth feel , slightly bitter quite dry tannins, balanced alcohol . Ok length with a peppery , quite lean finish . Elegant and reserved in style . This is drinking well now and over the next 5 years.

Always good to have a taste of home, and very little does that better than Gimblett Gravels Syrah. Great dark fruit, showing excellent leathery tones.

2012: old label but beautiful new fresh style of TH. Exceedingly aromatic, fresh ground black pepper, granite, and smoke. Not as fruity as the 2013 (to be expected) but ticking all the boxes of great Hawkes Bay Syrah. Palate is very spicy; cloves, cardamon, black pepper, blackberry, meaty with a softening edge after 2 years in bottle. Long length. Jubbly lovely.
