The 1999 Bordeaux vintage for many was not stellar. However, if their was one region that excelled, it was Pessac-Leognan. I actually spent two nights at this beautiful Chateau during En Premier in 2014.
The nose is soft & subtle. Mid fruits of; blackberries, black raspberries, dark cherries, cooked pomegranate, poached strawberries, black plum with heavy skin, & haunting blueberries. Well cooked toast-not burnt, soft lead pencil shavings, dry top soils, limestone minerals, used tobacco, old leather, dry river stone, dry black earth, vanillin, gentle spice, steeped tea left in the glass for an extended period with withering dark, red florals with dry lavender.
The palate is dry with fruits that are cooked yet juicy. Blackberries, black raspberries, dark cherries, cooked pomegranate, poached strawberries, black plum with heavy skin, & haunting blueberries. Cherry cola/licorice-cherry nibs, well cooked toast-not burnt, soft lead pencil shavings, dry top soils, limestone minerals, used tobacco, old leather, dry river stone, moist black earth with dry leaves, mint, dry herbs, charcoal, vanillin, nutmeg, cinnamon stick, gentle dark Asian spice, steeped tea left in the glass for an extended period with withering dark, red florals with dry lavender. The acidity is delightful. The finish is well balanced, structured, same wire to wire with a slight dry end that lasts two minutes.

Pale yellow with slight green. Oak, rich, herb, ripen fruit like pear. Quite high viscosity. Vanilla, almond. Roasted. Enough Acidity. Elegancy. Carbonnieux blanc from one of the best regions for white, Pessac-Leognan in Grave from Bordeaux. 19 @8800, AD, 240602 — 19 hours ago
Popped and poured, the 2020 pours a deep ruby with near opaque core; medium+ viscosity with moderate staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with dark fruits with brambles and cassis, tobacco, just a touch of green bell pepper, earth, and baking spice. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming notes from the nose. The finish is medium+. A balanced and charming example from Pessac-Leognan that’s giving pleasures in its youth. An estate on the rise. Drink now through 2035+. — 3 months ago
2018 vintage. Dead ringer for Haut-Brion or La Mission Haut-Brion. Serious, refined Graves/Pesssac-Leognan vibes. The anti-Napa Cab, Napa Cab. The market/ownership powers that be generally leaving the old-school Napa Cabs alone and keeping them true to roots. Those triple $$$ digit newer Napa Cabs mainly be tasting like chocolate cake reduction. Vive la différence. 3.22.23. — a year ago
Very good. A deep & intense nose: with plum, blackcurrant. A leather & smoke (palate). — a month ago
This was drinking very well with notes of cedar, tobacco and graphite. Really enjoyable — 2 months ago
Very smooth. Dark, heavy. Nice wine — 2 years ago

Pomegranate, cassis, bitter/unsweetened chocolate, forest floor, graphite, ash (but not smoke), dried strawberry, clay dust — there’s a little blueberry in there too. Elegant and subtle with many flavors I can’t pinpoint. Could age a long while. Wine with a capital “W.” 94…others with better palates would probably go higher. — 21 days ago
