PS Santa Barbara County Syrah 2021

Lovely rich Syrah with blackberry and raspberry notes. Mild peppercorn too. Nicely balanced tannins so fruit shows well. — 2 months ago

Santa Rita Hills Syrah 2019

2019 vintage. Showing just below the lushness of a Sine Qua Non or Alban Syrah-based effort. This is, nonetheless, outstanding. Slightly more acidity evident than many Rhône efforts tasted from Alban/Sine Qua Non/other Central Coast producers on the finish. Simply amazing that it's being done at a 12.5% ABV clip. If you see it, hit it. 3.22.23 — a year ago

Ya, these are fun. Much more crunchy and stemmy than SQN/Alban/most central coast.

Rim Rock Syrah 2011

This could have sat down for many more years. Tasted like a cote roti, big bold blue and red fruits with smoke, blood, dried meat and herbs — 3 months ago

Bien Nacido Vineyard Syrah 555 2018

Needs hours of air. Nose of olives, ripe grapefruit, garrigue, and red Twizzlers. Palate is zesty and juicy with underripe fruit. Should hold this peak for some time but hard to imagine this being better in 5-7 years. — a year ago

Anika Bien Nacido Vineyard Syrah 2016

Outstanding Syrah from Bien Nacido Vineyard in Santa Maria Valley, a site Rajat Parr has been exploring for a number of years (some, in collaboration with Piedrasassi) to craft a California Syrah to match the northern Rhône best ones (if you've read Rajat Parr's Atlas of Taste, you know he's obsessed with Thierry Allemand). Lively, balanced, delicious. — 5 years ago
