Domaine Jamet

Côte-Rôtie Syrah 2012

Amazing vintage for Jamet that you can drink now but will continue to develop for many years. Consistent with my many prior notes showing lots of dark cherry, raspberry, meat, blood, olive, pepper, spice & crushed violets — 5 days ago

Le Cigare Volant Red Rhone Blend 2021

65/18/15/2 blend of Grenache, Syrah, Cinsaut, Petite Sirah. Some wood and red fruit in nose. Raspberry and blackberry in mouth, slightly bitter finish, good value. Decant two hours, it integrates better but remains a bit tart. — a month ago

Domaine Serene

Yamhill Cuvée Willamette Valley Pinot Noir 2019

Elegant Ruby color with red fruit aromas and gentle floral spice, aged for about 12 months in French oak, signature blend of grapes from Dundee Hills, Eola-Amity Hills, and Yamhill-Carlton AVA's. On the palate flavors of cherry and black raspberry with notes of herb, licorice and wet stone notes. Soft dusty tannins on a long finish ending with fruit, spice and earthy notes. Very Nice! Drinking well now! — 2 months ago

Seghesio Family Vineyards

Sonoma County Zinfandel 2022

Mostly Zinfandel with less than 20% of other red varieties blended in. Dark ruby color. Intense aromatics of black currant/berry, black raspberry and plums. Same ripe fruits on the palate with additional flavors of black olive, basil, black pepper and baking spices. Long and lingering finish. Lively tannins and zesty acidity. Bold and powerful but not over the top. Good choice, Keith S! — 6 days ago

Olga Raffault

Les Picasses Chinon Cabernet Franc 2014

Broke out one of my cellared Raffaults for my homeboy who graced me with a home cooked Tuscan styled flank steak w rosemary & arugula, as well as Israeli cous cous w chickpeas, charred tomatoes, feta, & herbs. Light Cadmium red hued & strong color though ( good cork- not a guarantee w Raffault!); dense Hibiscus, fresh raspberry & some bramble on nose; on palate very clean & smooth mouthfeel, with the initial flavors repeated but a deeper blend of red fruits & a stronger presence of under brush. Super fresh & integrated. Elegant, & the Burgundy echo was hard to ignore. Not Uber complex but not monolithic either, which this line of Raffault can be in its youth ( or as it ages). Very impressive, & accessible now. Curious how my ‘02 & 07s will fare… — 2 months ago

@Peter Sultan I am always surprised this is not on more restaurant wine-lists given the price to quality ratio.

I have no evidence other than anecdotal but I suspect bottle variability- both from my experience and from what wine stores have told me. I imagine too it’s a tricky wine to sell given it can really shut down for periods. But all guesses @Ira Schwartz …..
