Popped and poured; enjoyed over a couple of hours. The 2022 pours a garnet color with a transparent core. Medium+ viscosity with no staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is youthful with notes of pomegranate, cranberry, strawberry and raspberry compote, red flowers, and gravely minerals. On the palate, the wine is dry with high tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium and just a touch hot. Not the most memorable Langhe Nebbiolo from Produttori in the last decade or so but it’s totally authentic and still a great value. Drink now and over the next 5-10 years. — 9 days ago

Another solid vintage of this consistent Tuscan Red. Blend of primary Sangiovese with some Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot blended in. Medium ruby red color. Aromas of red and black berry/currant fruit with hints of coffee and meat. The palate shows plum, cherry and strawberry fruit flavors with additional notes of tobacco, menthol, iron and spices. Solaia has changed a lot over the last 10 vintages. This wine is more perfumed and has a weight not seen in say a 2010. Wine is still tight but is clearly packing a lot. The composition is excellent. The fruit is there but mostly in reserve. I liked but didn’t love this… Yet. I suspect it will be quite special the next time. — a month ago
