Dark ruby. Black fruit, spices, oak. Needs some air time. Not a wine I especially enjoy, and as a 17 it’s nothing special. — 12 days ago
First bottle in a while. Nose is bit muted showing notes of plum and oak. Deep dark ruby colored. Ripe plum, with cassis and blue fruit briefly appearing mid palate, black licorice, pencil shavings, blueberry pie. Soft but grippy tannins. Holding together lovely and really growing into its age, with many years left. Lovely mouthfeel, enjoyable all around and easy drinking, showing once again why it’s a house favorite. — 18 days ago
Same comments as previously. Drinks quite well after 30 min to open up. — 2 days ago
Dark dark ruby. Tannins holding strong, a bit tight at the open, but loosens up to a wonderful silky mouthfeel. Black fruit in balance with minerality. Lovely wine but tonight I preferred the Pape Clement. — 9 days ago
Very dark almost black. Nose of raisins, baked blackberries. Ripe plum, cassis, blackberry, black cherry, graphite, vanilla. Great silky mouthfeel. Medium finish. Lovely wine. — 16 days ago
Very dark. Spices on nose. Black and red fruit, plum and cherry, lots of oak, tobacco, leather, black pepper. Perhaps a bit acidic making mouth pucker. Some airtime is softening it up. — 7 days ago
Nice aroma. Lovely mouthfeel. Ripe black and blue fruit, graphite, pencil shavings. Medium finish. Really enjoyed this with steak frites at Rendezvous. — 9 days ago
Easy drinking and enjoyable, but starting to go a bit flat. Flavors are muted since my last bottle. — 16 days ago

This is the ‘17 JH Wheeler Beckstoffer Missouri Hopper Vineyard. First bottle of this wine. Blown away. Nose is of blackberry pie. Loads of black and blue fruit, ripe me juicy, supple soft tannins that give a superb mouthfeel. Rich creamy feel. Nice long finish of crème de cassis. Fantastic! Especially for a ‘17. — 2 hours ago
