Colgin Cellars

IX Estate Napa Valley Red Blend 2014

Intensely lifted, fresh, and concentrated and showing incredible youth at nearly a decade in bottle. Perfectly ripe blackberries and black cherries are enveloped by aromas and flavors of fresh ground coffee, wet fall leaves, leather, menthol, and vanilla. The wine finishes long and with a crave-worthy mineral/graphite finish. This can cellar for years to come but is excellent now with herb-roasted lamb chops or grilled steak tips. Delicious! — 9 months ago

Château Lynch-Bages

Grand Cru Classé Pauillac Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2005

9.5

Great 05 fruit with classic Bordeaux profile.

Starts with the bright, ripe fruits that 05 gave. Blackberries, black raspberries, very, dark cherries, black plum, raspberries, plum, perfect graphite for days, cedar, fresh & slightly dry tobacco, forest floor with dry leaves, perfect, dark spices, dry crushed limestone, dry river stone, nutmeg, cinnamon & vanillin, salted caramel, dry, dark chocolate bar, steep tea with fruit, anise to black licorice, haunting herbaceous notes, saline notes, dry to moist clay, bright, mid to dark florals framed in violets, excellent acidity with amazing tension, beautifully balanced & structured, polished, wire to wire finish that lasts close to two-minutes. So round on the palate. Great with the El Salciciero ribeyes.

Corn picked today from my organic garden. Ten to fifteen plus year left.

Cloudy Bay

Te Wahi Central Otago Pinot Noir 2018

Classic and serious. Meaty, savoury, and vegetal notes on the nose. Classic central otago palate. Dark and savoury. Power without weight. — 9 months ago

Barbaresco Nebbiolo 2016

Anthony’s Birthday barbaresco… tastes like that sweet Mojave rain…. Great body, Fantastic length, lots of acidity and aging potential. Great alternative to a Barolo on a great vintage year. Tar. Rose petals. Leather. Quintessentially Nebbiolo, but more approachable. — 9 months ago

Robert Mondavi Winery

The Estates Cabernet Sauvignon 2019

It’s great to see the historic and influential Robert Mondavi Winery return to excellence. Napa Bordeaux blend with 85% #cabernetsauvignon 6% #cabernetfranc 6% #petitverdot 2% #malbec 1% #merlot. This wine shines with generous decanting. Elegant, memorable ripe bramble fruit and black plum, sweet baking spices on the nose. Juicy tartness underlays a bold wave of fruit on the palate with silken tannins on the finish. I definitely plan on laying down my other bottle for at least half a decade. #oakville — 9 months ago

Emidio Pepe

Montepulciano d'Abruzzo 2002

Kind of speechless. Not only is this ridiculously delicious but it’s my sons birth year wine as he celebrates his 21st today. WOW seems like an understatement. It wasn’t cheap but I’d buy a case if I could. — 9 months ago
