This is a clean, dry ruby colored, medium body Vihno Tinto from the Douro, D.O.C., Portugal. Served decanted & at appropriate temperature. Aromas of blueberry, lavender and vegetables (peas&asparagus). Flavors of tart cherry, anise and black pepper. Moderate acidity and alcohol 13.5% ABV; moderate plus tannins. Paired well with grilled beef,onions and peppers. Medium length finish with clinging tannins. Give a couple of years to see if it improves. — 8 years ago
This is a clean, dry, opaque, deep purple with ruby tint full body McClaren Vale Shiraz from Sparky and Sarah Marquis. Aromas & flavors of blackberry cobbler (Ripe fruit, baking spices, buttery crust. Creamy texture, full mouth feel, long spicy finish. As it warms red fruit notes of tart cherry ride a wave of moderate plus acidity & chewy tannins. High alcohol of 16% ABV. Paired with French onion soup au gratinee, mixed green salad with dijon vinagrette & cheese plate of Roquefort, an Asiago & a goat brie. — 8 years ago
This is a clean, dry(2.85g/L RS), black plum purple, opaque, full body South African blend of Syrah 66%, Mourvedre 32% & Viognier 2%. Moderate plus fruitiness, tannins and alcohol (14.1% ABV). Served decanted and warming to room temperature. Initial aromas of tar, mocha & tobacco. I do not taste any of the expected pepper of Syrah or Mourvedre. This is a clean, clear, dry, translucent, ruby colored, full body Bolgheri. Moderate plus tannins, acidity and alcohol 14% ABV. Aromas and flavors of violets, blackberry jam on medium toasted bread served with black coffee. This is a beautiful wine! Paired well with lasagna with ricotta, mozzarella and Parmigiano Reggiano. This is a clean, dry, deep ruby, medium body Carmenere (Santa Ana Vineyard - this producer's best vineyard) from the D.O Colchagua Valley, Chile. Well balanced with moderate fruitiness, acidity, tannins and alcohol 13.5 % ABV. Initial aromas of mint, vanilla cream soda & about 3/4 of the way through the sniff is p-mentha-8-thiol-3-one. This is a delicous wine that was decanted and chilled to the correct serving temperature. Not a big bold wine but drinks above it's class. — 8 years ago

This is a clean, dry (RS 2.2g/L), translucent, beautiful ruby colored, light body Austrian Zweigelt produced by Markus Huber. The estate is a member of the Osterreichische Tradionsweinguter. This a delicious wine lots of red fruit on the nose and palate. Refined tannins and mild acidity. Perfect drinking wine without food, but will accompany sausages, duck confit or pizza. This is a celebration of good news and for the occasion, a brut Cava from Catalunya. Blend of 30% Macabeo, 30% Parellada, 30% Xarello and 10% Chardonnay. 12.5% ABV. Fine effervescent bead, pale yellow color, aromas and flavors of pear, white peach and honeysuckle. Nice acidity. Would serve well as an aperitif or pair with soft creamy cheeses, light proteins. — 8 years ago
