A unicorn 🦄. The 2017 E&M’s Pinot’s where hard to try when young - all of them. And very hard to read. I thought the year was in question. Well this is changing this Rose is incredible now 3 years in the bottle. Bubblegum, herbs, earth and dirt on the nose. Fantastic fruit - strawberry guavas? Hint strawberry, lime, nice acidity. Lots of body. Begs for a Salmon dish which would go so well with the color. Drink now. Addictive. — 2 months ago
Unicorn wine for a pandemic. Tart, bright acidity upfront. Slight funk on nose. Great minerality, citrus and apples on palate. Ever changing complexity in the glass. — 5 months ago
Complex, bangs right for the first notes. Definitely some unicorn breathe when it finishes. — 4 months ago
The unicorn Richard Leroy that just can’t seem to survive any length of time on American wine lists and to no surprise 86d on this occasion. It’s quite reductive begging for a long decant. It’s deep and precise and with zippy acidity showing fiji apple, lanolin and a touch of orange zest. Finishes with great length and tension. The fuss is justified. Great stuff. — 5 months ago
A Chenin unicorn that flys off any wine list it finds itself on. In this case, 86d out of only 6 bottles received by Per Se. The nose is what is most captivating. So unique. It’s a bit less reductive and perhaps more exotic than the Noels de Montbenault of the same vintage. It’s layered with flavors of ginger, Leflaive-like sesame, dried apricots, sour apple and salted hazelnuts. There is good richness and a wild texture that’s balanced by fine acidity. A delicious Chenin that I wish there was more of! — 2 months ago
Clean, pure, soft... butterfly and unicorn whispers. Needed a few hours to open. In fact I thought it was best the next day (and last glass on the third ). Nose is beautiful. Palate well balanced and smooth. — 4 months ago
