Color of gold. Nose of ripe fruits like banana and papaya, roasted nuts, mix of flowering note spice and alcohol, and a touch of salty mineral. Very Chardonnay like. Taste is interesting, with good mix of sweetness and acidity. On top of that, jasmine flowering note. Almost like jasmine tea. Sweet citrus and melon on the 2nd sip. Quite soft and clean. Some minerals show up later on. Light on the aftertaste yet done well in quality. — 12 days ago
The better steak wine over the 2009 Ormes de Pez but, not the more beautiful, elegant wine.
The 2010 Rioja marries the Wagyu Ribcap while showing its Ranchero characteristics.
The palate shows tumble-weed, tannin fruits that are; brambly, ripe, slightly candied; blackberriesblack raspberries, dry, dark cherries with skin, ruby, black plums, very w/ ripe strawberries. Tumbleweed, straw, dark spice, tough leather, clove, sage, dry clay & top soil, crushed rocks, black pepper, dark, berry cola, mint, oak barrel powder, used charcoal with candied florals that are fresh & withering; dark, red, purple & blue. The acidity is top flight. The long finish is well balanced fruit & earth, persisting nicely falling onto earth & dark spices.

Vinaigrette salad with dried, dark cherries & caramelized walnuts calls for Pinot Noir. In fact, the wine needs the salad to really sing. Wine speaks deeply to the skin of the caramelized walnuts.
The one thing about Burgundy is you can get pre-ox, barnyard and VA. Here, you get just a touch of soft VA.
The palate is; round, lush darker fruits that are very ruby. Ripe & more extracted; blackberries, stewed black, plum, dark cherries, plum pudding, blueberries, black raspberries, dried cranberries, raspberries & strawberries on the way to fermentation. Moist clay, dry top soil, sludgy limestone, dark chocolate, notes of maple & brown sugar, dry herb, deeply grilled meats, dry & fresh tobacco, leather notes, oak powder, charcoal, forest floor, dark, tree sap, berry cola, blended black & red licorice, dark spices with a touch of heat, tea with sediment with candied, ruby, dark florals; dark, red, purple & blue florals. The acidity is round & beautiful. The finish is solid wire to wire, rich, lush, well knitted & balanced, sexy and persists endlessly.
Vincent Girardin in excellent vintages, like 2010, is one of my go to value producer for reds & blancs.
VA fades as you sip...salad assists as well.

Only 10 cases produced (best Pritchard Hill cabernet lots, 22 months new French oak). Premiere Napa Valley - auction of very unique small lot one-off wines from Napa.
1.5 hour decant (lots of chunky sediment). A stunning inky dark purplish garnet color with little signs of aging. On the nose: dark plum, currants, floral, spice, cherry, tobacco, creme de cassis. Taste: WOW, had to buckle my seat belt....soft, rich, juicy, elegant, and balanced wine with blackberry, minerals, cedar, red plum, crushed rocks, and a beautiful black licorice long finish. YUM. Cheers! — 6 days ago
Deep Ruby with an elegant bouquet of sweet berry fruits, subtle spice with earthy tones, a traditional Rioja. On the palate, the wine was silky smooth with layers of flavors, berry/cherry, tobacco, smoky cedar, dark fruit, vanilla spice, very well balanced with fine tannins and a clean structure ending with a nice long finish. Delicious! Still great with room to run. This wine shows potential aging well beyond next decade! — 4 days ago
Had this a few nights ago. Second label from David Abreu at Abreu Vineyards. His Madrona Ranch and Thorevelos cabs are off the charts, and while this one was very good, it was definitely a couple of steps down in terms of depth and complexity (of course, it’s more than a couple of steps down in price!). It is, however, a good introduction to the kinds of wine that Abreau makes. — 12 days ago
Technically not a lessona in 2010 bc he didn’t fill out the paperwork.
Nose is lovely dusty cherry flower. Very pretty. Maybe some pink rose. Some raisins.
You get some raisins on the palate. Lovely texture. Delicious in an unusual sort of way. You get that Raisin but an elegant Raisin without the weight and alcoholic oomph Of say an amarone.
Terrific elegant finish.
A very distinctive wine. In a good way.
