Poured through Coravin aerator. Dark ruby. Inviting nose of black raspberry, light oak, and cassis. Full bodied palate echoes the nose with velvety tannins and a lengthy, slightly nutty finish. Cabernet Franc takes the lead in this “upside down” Bordeaux. Slightly New World in style, but Bordeaux all the way. Drink now through 2025. — a month ago

Deep rustic aroma of cooked blueberry/plum and bouquet of vanilla/oak/subtle spice on the nose (date I say graham cracker?), abundant berries and balanced tannin/acidity on the palate with a lingering flavor that leaves you smiling and eager for more. Tasted from a coravin after Domaine aux Moines ‘99. Bottle not cold. Far more fragrant, of pears, peaches, and Tempier Rose. Far lighter in color; pale. Electric. Not as smooth or buttery as the Moines, or as full bodied (feels thin). Not bitter at all. Dry. Don’t get any taste of minerals. Love it. — a month ago

This is one of those few (and I do mean few) wines where it tastes better with #coravin than #uncorked With Coravin it has a lovely bouquet full of white flowers, citrus and hints of oak. Uncorked it just gets all acidic and looses the delicate complexity. Still, that being said...it is one of the better white #Rioja that I have tried and I’ve tried plenty. Hayne Vineyard Petite Syrah 2018

Dark purple color but maybe a twinge lighter in color than the Pesenti. Sugar plums, blueberries, and milk chocolate on the nose. Massive tannins and tons of fruit, this wine is packed with flavor. Full-bodied it coats the mouth and the finish is quite long. Amazing wine, this one can stand the test of time, and probably should. Used the Coravin on this for a small taste. Will lay it down in the cellar for a bit along with its twin. — 2 months ago

Savennières-Roche aux Moines Chenin Blanc 1999

Deep yellow, almost like a Pilsner. Faint nose, period, but of straw/hay and astringent, then pineapple. Super smooth, buttery on the back end. Light bite of acid. Not crisp. Drunk from a coravin, bottle not cold. Giving it an 8.9 for now and will revisit later. — a month ago

Summit Selection Napa Valley Petite Sirah 2015

Deep purple in color with a nose of blackberries and earth. Very well balanced wine. I was waiting for one aspect to take over, but it stayed true throughout the finish. Full-bodied with nice fruit, acidity, and tannin. I tasted off the Coravin right out of the bottle, but this one would probably open up a good bit more with a decant. Very nice wine! — 2 months ago
