Coravin

Château Smith Haut Lafitte

Le Petit Haut Lafitte Red Bordeaux Blend 2016

I used the Coravin tonight for a glass of this wine. Much better than 2 years ago. Clearly a well made, full bodied wine. It could get more integrated with a couple more years, but seems fairly balanced now. Not my favorite, but not bad. — 5 days ago

Holding on, this is in a half-bottle 3/8 but is delicious. First with #coravin it was just okay, but decanted it sang. Delicious. #lalandedepomerol #pomerol — 2 years ago

Bricco Boschis Barolo Nebbiolo 2013

Tasted via Coravin as part of Capital Grille's by the glass program. Bright, plenty of energy, red fruits and minerals. Sustains on the palate, decent complexity. Good acidity makes it food friendly. — 4 years ago

Changed so much over several days of Coravin. At times very Nebbiolo-esque. At other times more fruit. Always fairly tannic. Fruit was cherry. Some cedar at times. At its best, 9.2. At its lowest, 8.8. — a day ago

You mean better not use coravin?

In the case of this wine, yes. This wine is much better when it is opened and the cork is removed.

Vintage Port Blend 1997

Nose has hints of fig with black raspberry cassis and graphite. The spice tones are subdued due to the temp. Lush, full and opulent on the palate with a combo of fresh plum and black raspberry mingles with dried strawberries. Lots of spice with supple tannins that still display lovely structure. Seems to be just entering a lovely mature spot. From a coravin bottle which is just a little warm.

Enderle & Moll

Buntsandstein Pinot Noir 2018

If you have not tried German Pinot yet, aka Spatburgunder, this is a very, very good entry point, though not the easiest to find. Their Liaison might be an easier find and a worthwhile search as well.

Tasted over a few days: Fruit for days, earthy tones, some spice and lots of florals. The nose is med+, while the body is med, acidity is med/med+, abv is at the edge of med/med+ at 13.5, tannin are med and very finely grained, supple.
Day 1 was more fruit, day 2 the complexity deepened, day 3 was a few days later (first 2 were via Coravin) it was about the same as day 2.

Probably the best Spat for me to date, a few more of these from time to time would be nice.

Amazing! off the coravin. Everything I love about French white wine: sleek mineralogy, stone fruit and a kiss of oak. — 3 years ago

III Michaels Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 2012

CellarTracker.com gives this an average value of $21. For a 92-93 point Oakville cab, that just might be the best QPR I've seen lately. Half of this wine was extracted from Coravin about 6 months ago and the remainder went down tonight! This is a wine that borders on full bodied and has a solid structure. JUST on the full bodied side, but the complexity makes up for it. The nose is youthful oak and blackberry....classic. The entry is black fruit, fig newton. Hint of grilled meat to the middle, classic blackberry core, bit of herb, bit of spice. The finish is solid. Truffle, hint of bitter chocolate, slightly stiff tannin that is still quite present, just enough black pepper to warm the throat. This one can probably go another 7-10 years. Completely agree with the 2017-2027 window. — 4 years ago
