For a few of my followers, thoughts of "707 again..." may be running through their minds. I have been lucky enough to drink this Penfolds masterclass for the last 10 years and make no mistake about it, this beast only gets better. Bouquet of leather, black fruits, cassis and red wood. 19 years has allowed the bouquet to develop into something quite seductive. It's not no Cheval Blanc but it's sexy enough to get me into the mood. Full bodied, high concentration of black fruit is held together with a great acid line and clever fine tannins. Flickers of savory characters, cedar and leather add to the playful nature of this beauty. I'm not a Penfold enthusiast but there is no denying the true brilliance that this wine delivers. The current count of bottles remaining in the cellar is 53. Thank God for Tony and 1996 707. 95 points — 10 years ago

2010 Barolo from a clever wine maker. Still a little shy on the nose. Dried fruits and herbs. Tannins are not prominent for a typical borolo. Structure and length for days. Exciting wine for the next 10 years. Drinking well now. 93 points — 9 years ago
