OMG!!! I have never been a fan of the Blackboard which I bought at Costco. But I was at Matthews last month and tried it and I WAS TOTALLY BLOWN AWAY!!! They call it a Washington Heritage Blend because it contains Cab, Merlot, Malbec and Syrah! For that price point, it is a unique and one of a kind quality wine!! I ended up buying a case! Plush, bright and not super oaky! Nice mid-level of acidity. This sauvignon blanc is the perfect pairing with seafood! I also love drinking it on his own. — 6 years ago

Did a noce vertical experiment tonight with friends (2014-2015-2016). This Claret is a great classic Bordeaux style blend. This 2016 is the heaviest Matthews Claret I had so far. Definitely much drier than the ‘14 and ‘15 but the tannins are smoother. Not as fruit-forward with more spices. — 6 years ago

This 2018 Sauv Blanc is my new go to white. This is the classic stainless steel Bordeaux-style white that I am always craving in the summer. Crisp, clean and nice tropical notes. Kudos Matthews! You did it again. — 6 years ago

I really enjoyed the ‘13 but this 2015 has a nicer longer finish and is on the heavier side. I love the black fruits note and the hint of oak. Great level of medium-high acidity and dryness. Great Merlot dominant blend. — 6 years ago

Very nice fruit forward sauv blanc that pairs super well with food. Dry, smooth with very plush notes of pineapple thanks to the little of oak used in the wine making process. Highly recommend. — 6 years ago

What a great Malbec! Beautiful deep fruit notes with a nice subtle pepper kick. Smooth tannins make this single varietal an amazing wine. — 6 years ago
