Still young for my tastes but checking in on a go-to producer. Killer with King Crab Salad sandwiches 🥪

This bottle was a bit slow out the gate and needed some air to reveal the magic inside. This bottle was a pick up from Corti Bros when passing through Sacramento via Tahoe.
Finesse, and beautifully prolific white wine structure all the way throughout.

This is such a dynamic site. 1600ft above the valley floor, Wente clone on AXR-1 rootstock planted in 1982. This has white Burgundy nods written all over it in opening it tonight on 6/20/2019. Cheers John & Kai!

A bottle I had wished well but always ended up in the shuffle and without a pull of the cork. At last it’s number was called on a long weekend of winter camping in the NorCal woods. Gifted from the winery on a visit at time of release, this bottle benefited from bottle age. Lots to say. Ever-evolving and transformative both in flavor, depth, and especially weight. The wine built mass and darkness with time. Performs well beyond its category and worthy of a revisit or more vintages. — 4 years ago

Napa elegance present in this wine. Bought on release and cellared until the cork was pulled tonight, 9/26/2020. Looking for a structured red wine to put alongside NYT Beef Bourgogne recipe combined with an itch for something in the realm of Napa Cabernet.

Stag’s Leap (SVL particularly) in the 10-20 year window seems to be my sweet spot.
This wine (13.5% abv) and others I’ve drank across this range find a lighter elegance when aligned with heavier foods or on their own.

Unfortunately underwhelmed due to the amount of upfront oxidation. A tired dog at such a young age.

In place of the by-itself-intellectual-sipper I was hoping this wine to be, it got repurposed and salvaged as a simple quaffer to match some quick tuna salad 🥗
