Château Cantemerle

Haut-Médoc Red Bordeaux Blend 2016

Medium-dark ruby hue. Aromas of blackberry, cassis, earthy, plum, tar. Plus body, full tannins, plus acid. Structured with a long finish. Beautiful bouquet. Needs more time to soften, but drinking well now. Solid value for a Left Bank Bordeaux. 64% Cabernet Sauvignon, 28% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc, 3% Petit Verdot. — 6 days ago

Château Branaire (Duluc-Ducru)

St. Julien Red Bordeaux Blend 2018

Wonderful Bordeaux blend from Saint-Julien. Super dry dark blue fruit seamlessly integrated with aged wood notes of dark chocolate, raw tobacco and leather (remember chewing on this as a kid 😁) and smooth rounded tannins. A great wine to just sip, reminisce and… wondering where the oldest vineyard in the world might be? You want to know? Château Lascombes

Margaux Merlot Blend 2004

Not flawed but just not great. Sometimes the vintage reports are correct. 2004 is not one to seek out. It’s oddly somewhat similar to how they are talking about 2021 Bordeaux, another rough vintage. — 19 days ago

Château Gloria

Saint-Julien Red Bordeaux Blend 2016

Dark ruby hue. Aromas of blackberry, blueberry, cassis, leather, plum. Plus body, full tannins, plus acid. Balanced, bold, and refined, with a long finish. Definitely worth pairing with hearty food. 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Franc, 3% Petit Verdot. — 6 days ago

Château Suduiraut

Sauternes Sémillon-Sauvignon Blanc Blend 2009

Great wine, from a half bottle.
Lots of complexity and depth of flavor. Honey, white chocolate and caramel. Nectarine, pear and bloodorange. Almonds, oats and buttery cookie-dough.
Exquisite balance, luscious sweerness, fresh acidity and spicy bitterness.
Deeeelicious now!

Château Cheval Blanc

St. Émilion Red Bordeaux Blend 1976

Garnet core , terracotta rim . Spiced red fruit undergrowth , touch of brown sugar , grafite , tobacco , dried mushroom, touch of smoke . On the palate quite elegant red fruited , dried cranberry , red currant , still very much alive , just enough acidity. Slightly short on the finish , but with a round palate and a slightly sweet , brown sugar tinged finish . Still very much alive and enjoyable . Better than expected — 2 days ago

Château La Conseillante

Pomerol Red Bordeaux Blend 1989

Tasted side by side with the 1990, as well as the 2005 (en magnum). There was another 1989 at the table and two other 1989s at the dinner, plus one more 1990. There was bottle variation amongst the 1989s, but all were solid. Nevertheless, this 1989 was generally regarded as the best of this vintage. The 1990 was more rounded and complete. The 1989 had more acidity 35 years on, but worked well with the sweet bread. — 9 days ago

Château Talbot

Saint-Julien Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 1986

1986 vintage. 5 bottles tasted for a 1986 vintage BDX dinner @ Mister A's-San Diego. This was up against other 1986's Pichon-Lalande, Beychevelle, Gruaud-Larose, Montrose and Cos. Double decanted and tasted over 5 hours. Respectable sed. Effin pop and pour now. Right right now. The clear winner. So good with balance and enough fruit without having to reach or rationalize. If you're not able to access for 7-10 years, you should be okay. Delicious. 3.14.24. — a month ago
