Very nice extremely drinkable red. Caught my eye as last time we had a wine from Les Poyeux was a Clos Rougeard at Commander’s Palace in New Orleans. This was at Balthazar. Definitely on the more glou glou side of things - but quite enjoyable. And a nice pairing with a frisée lardon, halibut, and a steak au poivre. — 2 years ago
Piacevolissimo — 2 months ago
Poured into a decanter about 30min prior to service and enjoyed over the course of a few hours. The 2005 “Les Poyeux” pours a deep garnet color with a near opaque core; medium viscosity with moderate staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with gorgeous notes of ripe and tart red and black fruits: currants, blackberries, dark cherry, tons of violets, horse blanket, tobacco, some pyrazines, some leather, fine warm spices, and ferrous minerals. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long and overwhelmingly sanguine. It’s incredible how much character can be packed into a 12.5% ABV wine. A stunning bottle. Drink now through 2045. — 4 months ago
Should’ve let this one rest longer but I couldn’t help myself. Rougeard look out. — 3 years ago

Clos Rougeard Le Bourg 2018 (Magnum)
Deep ruby in the glass. The bouquet is truly very fine: refined and elegant, with aromas of cassis, black cherry and plum, lifted by graphite, tobacco and a touch of violets.
On the palate, the first impression is the velvety texture. The tannins are ripe and finely grained, well integrated into a wine that balances power with elegance.
The fruit is pure and lively, supported by fresh acidity and a clear sense of minerality.
The finish is long and harmonious, with dark berries and subtle spice lingering. Already impressive today, with plenty of potential to evolve further.
For me the best Le Bourg in years! — 12 days ago
