So much chatter about this, and Venge has done it again. It's a clone of the 14 vintage.
Deeply perfumed nose of flowers and cassis. The wine has mucho depth. Cedar, tobacco and sweet black fruits tease the palette. Decadent and pure finish. Very well done. Wifey was looking at 93, but editorial liberties prevail π β 8 years ago

Wifey spat her pacifier out for some reason, but I have assumed editorial liberties. In the glass, the wine is as black as me, but not as sexy π
The nose is dense and heavy with maple syrup and maraschino cherries. On the palette, it's velvety and compact, with layers of coffee, kirsch and finishes sweet. This is why I love Napa! β 10 years ago
On the nose, baked apples and oak. The oak monster is evident on the palate. Neutral oak would have allowed more fruit and secondary flavors to shine thru. Very little acid to talk about, leaves this example presenting as somewhat flabby. This wonβt evolve to a better place.
Wifey rated this 93pts, but editorial liberties prevail. π β 6 years ago
We were impressed with the 13, and the 14 is a clone of the 13.
The nose bristles with rocks, minerals and lemons zest.
The palette is clean with a pulsating minerality. Grapefruit, nectarines and butterscotch are elevated by the perfect acidity. Excellent mouthfeel, which finishes with tension.
Wifey was in the 92 pt space. However, editorial liberties prevail tonight... β 9 years ago
A pleasant surprise, albeit showing a hint of maturity on the palate.
Nose displays strawberries with a wisp of mushrooms. Palate is bold and vigorous. This all about energy power. Overall, excellent. I just caught this in its old man phase. Certainly, a producer to watch.
Mo wasnβt feeling it, but I have assumed editorial liberties (and it came from our cellar). β 5 years ago
Initial notes of maturity, peaches, apricots, bread, with yeast.
Palette is consistent, with additional lemon zest and wood. Nice balance and acidity. Surprisingly showing its age. Drew lavished 95 pts on this, so editorial liberties kick in here. β 8 years ago
