Canned Oregon

Red Pinot Noir

Canned Oregon Pinot Noir! That is the winemaker the app hasn’t recognized yet. And me making notes as I oft do, studiously scribbling at the kitchen counter. This is quite good! So good I wanted to pour into a glass to fully vibe on the good. Very spicy. Great with a chill and also without though based on my chilled reds fetish you can guess which one fetched my fancy. Very big on the allspice/cinnamon/cherry notes. Cola. Funtimes. I think the reason Pinot Noir has an affinity for aluminum must have something to do with how I always think they taste at least a little like a cherry coke. Which is also great out of a can and good when searching for a sugar high over an alcohol mellow. Should I invent a cocktail combining them? Oh. No probably not. But maybe.
Oh wait—actually a Kalimoxto made with cherry coke would be awesome. Thank you for bearing with me in my time of ramble.

Eisold-Smith

Meredith Mitchell Pinot Noir 2014

Taste this blind and you will guess Burgundy. The nose, the palate, the color; everything screams burg. Speaking of the nose; foot fetish anyone? ( @Shawn R ) Locker room, wild tart cherry, damp forest floor, roasted lamb juices, and well... women’s shoes 👠 . Savory and meaty. After a couple hours open, this builds some sweetness on the back end; a little Luden’s cherry drop and dried thyme sprigs. Really well made and a true testament to the terroir of this single vineyard. Burgundy lovers need to get their hands on this. — 7 years ago

Château Duhart Milon

Pauillac Cabernet Sauvignon - Merlot Blend 1995

I was always puzzled why the short-lived Chinese Lafite fetish extended to Carruades, but not to Duhart-Milon. This was bought not long ago on the cheap and delivers a legitimately Lafite-like experience. A classic Pauillac with the usual cedary aromatics and a pitch-black fruit complexion, even a bit of nuttiness. The texture is slick and glossy and while there is still some tannin here it's mostly smoothed over. Very easy drinkability here and while it may not have the dimensions of Lafite it's got very much the same taste, and even a lot of the elegance. — 10 years ago
