Kanonkop Estate

Paul Sauer Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2019

Nice South African wine dinner Wednesday at Angelo’s Cabarita on Sydney Harbour
Eight wines served with typical South African food so pairings were important as food can be quite spicy (Kingfish Crudo, Peri Peri Chicken, Bunny Chow Lamb Curry, Boerewors, Rib Eye and Malta Pudding)
The 2019 Kanonkop Paul Sauer Bordeaux blend from Magnum was excellent as was 2021 Meerlust Bordeaux blend as well as the 2017 Kanonkop Pinotage from Magnum. Also interesting was 2007 cold fermented Nederberg Edelkeur with the pud.
Great night.

Pommard Pinot Noir 2014

2014. With Ben Brown in Malta. Slightly sweet aftertaste. Not bitter. Well balanced but slightly acidic. Strawberry nose. Nice easy drinking wine. Good with my red snapper & Ben’s Canadian aged rib-eye. — 6 years ago

Medina Vermentino Zibibbo 2016

Last of the wine that I brought back from Malta. It's pretty much what you'd expect from a wine that cost €8: light, easy-drinking, unremarkable. — 5 years ago

Laurenti Malta Vermentino Viognier 2018

This vintage seems to be a blend of Vermentino and Viogner (leading with Vermentino). Tropical and stone fruit with a long mineral finish. — 6 years ago
