This won the Trophy for the best White Wine at the Toowoomba Wine Show last weekend and went on to win Champion Wine of the Show. Colour is very pale lemon. Notes of green Apple - skins and flesh, also Lime. The palate has quince and mandarin notes - quite unctuous and fleshy on the palate - low acid and medium plus intensity. Even though the winery is in the Granite Belt/Ballandean the fruit is from Chalmers Vineyard in Mildura in Victoria. The 2020 vintage in Ballandean was probably the most challenging on record with droughts, fires and record low yields. As a result, no Vermentino was harvested at Golden Grove Estate. — 6 years ago
Textbook Gewurtztraminer from the unlikely New England area near Tingha, an hour or two’s drive south of the Granite Belt but made by Mike Hayes in the latter. Aromas and flavours of Lychees and Turkish Delight with moderate acid and great length. Was a perfect match with Smoked Cod. I usually have a Pinot Noir with richer fish dishes and I had opened a cracker with the 2009 Bass Phillip Premium as well to compare but the Gewurtz was the better matchup. — 6 years ago

Delicious - Sweet, deep and textured — 7 years ago
Notes of musk and Lychees. A palate of pure Turkish Delight. A varietally pure and accurate rendition of Gewürztraminer. This Wine was one of the reasons that Mike Hayes was awarded Australian winemaker of the year last week by the Australian Society of Viticulture and Oenology. The first Queenslander to win this award. Tasted again 29 weeks later with consistent notes. A dead giveaway for Gewürztraminer if tasted blind. — 9 years ago
Had this at the Heritage Estate restaurant - went perfectly with the Death By Chocolate dessert! — 9 years ago
Nice Tempranillo! — 10 years ago
Inky black in colour. Dusty and savoury. Tastes European - made from the little known and ancient Saperavi grape which originated in the former Russian state of Georgia. Ballandean Estate at Stanthorpe , the Granite Belt, have been growing Saperavi successfully for some years now. Dusty cherry/plum flavours with much savouriness. Barb loved it. — 6 years ago

Absolutely love it ❤️ — 7 years ago
Tasted at Symphony Hill Wines whilst roaming the Granite Belt today.
One of the stand outs on their list. — 8 years ago
Absolutely amazing. — 9 years ago
Bright Crimson with a tinge of purple. Cherries and Tobacco with a touch of wet cement! (I know it sounds odd, but it is there). Medium Bodied with soft tannins. As "Joven" it is designed for early consumption with minimal use of oak. The Granite Belt appears to be ideal for alternative particularly Mediterranean varieties. — 9 years ago
Tom Casagrande
Leans into its carbonic character, with a confectionary nose of bright cherry-plum bubble gum, loads of granite, and almost a subtle just-dug root vegetable note. In the mouth it has an initial belt of high/toned fruit, but then slims down and eases into a lean feel, with fine, chalky minerality being the last characteristic. Definitely on the lighter side but quite flavorful. Seems a little disjointed and would probably benefit from another year or so in the bottle to come together. — 2 years ago
