Glad we waited until 2018 to open this 2010. Probably should have waited another 5 yrs or so. Sweet elagic tannins a bit overly pronounced, but just starting to integrate. For the coldest vintage we’ve had in the NW in decades, this shows ripe yet restrained character, chalky cocoa tannins, brambley black raspberry, cassis, blackstrap molasses, pipe tobacco, hint of anise. I can only imagine the hangtime for 14.8% abv in 2010, but it didn’t stick out and added to the structure. One of the best Sineann wines I’ve tasted. — 7 years ago

‘Cowboys Cuvée’ Red wine blend says the label. Pours a dark and stormy red of blood. Smells like wet stones and gauze. B.O. too. Hint something herbal. Flavors are chewy and fresh. Herbal streak. Fresh basil, mint, marjoram, etc. Plenty of tannins. Cherry cola and fresh blackberry too. This is a pretty standard Mertiage type CA fancy red. Checks in at 14.0% ABV so that seems like a mature grape and a long hangtime. Nice stuff. Big, lush and fairly complex. Hint too much spice box and just a bit of the dreaded vanilla oak sauce though. 2021 vintage. Terra Solis Vineyard, Napa Valley Coombsville AVA. I was lucky enough to meet owner Frank W. Bishop ,Jr. , who generously offered me this bottle. He sells most of his grapes ( to some very famous names) and produces a tiny quantity under the Terra Solis label. A 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from the Coombsville AVA, that is cooler than the Valley floor AVAs because of its proximity to San Pablo Bay, which allows a later harvest and longer hangtime for the grapes. Deep dark red. Intense perfume with black fruit, spices, and toasty oak. In the mouth is beautifully balanced with layers of black fruit, fresh acidity, and relatively moderate alcohol ( abv. 14,2%). Personally, I would have preferred oak with a lighter toast, but that is obviously a stylisic choice, and the wine is excellent indeed. — a year ago
