Time to drink. Past its prime however still interesting. Blackberry, plumb with licorice. Some notes of leather along with what seemed stronger than normal alcohol. What you doing in 1987? — 3 months ago
Lighter than I thought … need to try more Pinot Noirs — 5 months ago
Hell yes. Raspberry nose. Red fruit overlayed with crushed dry rose, savory herbs, spicy black pepper, red licorice, assertive tannins and a delicate acidity. Unconventional but absolutely great Chateauneuf du Pape. Give it a lot of air, and drink it slowly over the course of an evening. With cheese ravioli and Miles Davis’s Kind of Blue. Divine. (Also not a blend, but 100% Grenache) — 9 months ago
+1 hour decant(some fine/cloudy sediment). A remarkable dark ruby red color. On the nose: subdued notes of dark fruit, floral, menthol, loamy soil, tobacco leaf. Taste: silky, smooth wine with dark plum/cherry, dark chocolate, dried herbs, crushed rocks, and a cedar tobacco medium plus little astringent finish. — a month ago
13.5% Mondavi reserve from 1997. What a lot of fun to try. Not sure what kinda year this was in Napa, but this is delicious. Perfect pairing with prime steaks on the grill - tons of dark red fruit with great refinement and acid on the finish. Really excellent. — 7 months ago
2018 vintage on 5/17/25 with homemade pizza. It was good but not knock your socks off. — a month ago
This has softened considerably since my last bottle several years ago. Nose is complex, with earth, cedar, cigar box, and an incense-like note. In the mouth, it’s rich but medium-bodied. The tannins that were so prominent a few years ago have significantly resolved. Entering (finally) its drinking window. — 3 months ago
