A accidentally find in my cellar it’s a huge mess! This is what Burghs are all about. This one needs air. Plenty of tannins left should go for another 4 years or so. Crushed Marble, Port wine notes, touch cherry 🍒, hint cinnamon, tree bark, touch bitter, black tea notes. Tomorrow more after 24h’s on the Argon line. Mellowed further out. — 3 months ago
The 2004 Montrose has a slightly rustic bouquet but is quite charming. It offers mainly red fruit, bacon fat, undergrowth and peaty scents, which are very Saint-Estèphe in style. The palate is medium-bodied with melted tannins. It is savory and a little dry, especially towards the finish, though there is good weight, and it is well balanced. Perfect to drink now. Quite smoky & raw. Gravel & raw cacao. The fruit really hidden right now. Barely hinted. After some time a bit of cassis emerges.
Dense on the palate. And quite burly. Big tannins, juicy yet very present. Great depth. Roast, cacao, very masculine.
This is way too early to drink this, still needs time to settle down. Brilliant but way too young. — 2 months ago
1970 | Red Blend
Chateau Beychevelle
Bordeaux; Médoc, St. Julien, France
(91-93; Drink 2015-25)
3H decant
(Typical blend as 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 28% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Franc & 4% Petit Verdot; it's unknown to me the exact percentages for this vintage)
Nose has dried plum, truffle, old wet leather, earthy notes, moist tobacco and damp forgotten firewood.
Palate has dried cherry, vanilla/cedar, dried blackberry, sweet cherry, dehydrated plum, garden soil with faint tannins and fading acidity.
Happy Father's Day 2024 to all. — 20 days ago
A nice example of a fairly obscure varietal. It worked better with my tuna entrée than with Bonnie’s rack of lamb. I think it needs a bit more aging. — a month ago
Velvety, smooth, full bodied and gorgeous — a month ago

Great recommendation from the guy at the local wine shop.
45+ minute decant. Dark red color. Cigars, ash, dark red fruit, and some cedar on the nose. Medium plus depth and integrated finish. Paired nicely with burgers. — 7 days ago
