Really nice wines from a small winery in OR we discovered during a tasting at Sineann (they are co-located at the same winery). — 3 years ago
Maurizio Sòt is a superstar. This is a rockstar wine. Nose is so unique and aromatic. Red cherries, herbs, sweet roses, sweeter darker cherries, amazing perfume. The brilliance of 2016 Barolo at the village level is not talked about enough. Glorious spice after 15-18 minutes now. Just glorious. Oh the palate. Sweet and decadent and precise with super sappiness on the finish. Gorgeous red fruits, strawberry, even a hint of red delicious apple, and so many cherries. Amazing precision and depth. Big tannins ensure a long life. Classically structured. Excellent length and persistence. — 3 years ago
A night back at Roscioli's
And i have been spoiled by my old friend and colleague Maurizio.
He opened for me this marvellous Barbaresco explaining how Versio's family use to confer the grapes to Bruno Giacosa, but at once realised they could do something extremely good on their own. Production is very limited apparently. The wine from the vi tage 2016 is in fantastic shape
Velvety tannin, fruit, roses, a bit of tar and altogether just absolutely in balance. Long aftertaste too.
I didn't take a picture of another couple of wines Maurizio poured me such as the Moulin-a-vent by Thibault Liger-Belair, which was a stunning discover for me(gamay looking very Burgundian, i dare anyone would call that wine from the Cote d'Or rather than Beaujolais), and then he comes with this unlabelled bottle and another wonderful story....
Apparently Anselme Selosse goes to this unknown wine guy named Prof Venturelli and wants to swap his entire production of rose for the entire production of Lambrusco di Sorbara bottled by him. Answer was a big no and last night i tasted a trebbiano spargolo made by this Prof Venturelli in full Champagne style.
Pretty hot stuff, pretty hot night.
Always an experience a night at Roscioli's
...by the way, i was also gifted one of those Lambrusco di Sorbara, but i need to wait a bit before drinking it..so i was told😊 — 2 years ago

I bought this as Sofia & I visited the property in September of 2015 when this was being birthed. I meant to enjoy it on her birthday a while back but ended up in the ER from food poisoning I had at a restaurant. Ugly for a week.
Franciacorta is Italy’s sparkling region much like Champagne is to France. It is very near to the Italian summer hot spot, Lake Garda.
The body on this is beautiful, rich, almost fluffy with tiny beads. Starts with lemon chiffons, green apple, grapefruit, yellow melons, some lime notes, white cream, dry herbs, white spice, slightly moist, powdery to crushed chalkiness, saline, yellow & white flowers, perfect acidity and a well made, knitted, beautiful balanced & tensioned, elegant finished that lasts two-minute that falls on minerality.
Annamaria Clementi Reserve is tribute to the founder, Maurizio Zanella’s mother and made in only the very best of years.
It is a blend of; 82% Chardonnay, 15% Pinot Nero & 3% Pinot Bianco. 6 months is small oak casks, 63 mg of sulfur dioxide per L. Zero dosage and 13% alcohol.
