Very minerally traces of coal dust - different and enjoyable. Just had a glass at China Doll Sydney - first visit. The wine was very good. Palate is on the restrained style - worked well with Scallops, Ginger and Shallots. Larry McKenna is an Australian winemaker who has enhanced his reputation at Escarpment. — 5 years ago

Mid crimson in colour. Earthy smoky notes with more forest floor than red fruit notes. These earthy notes come through on the palate finishing with a slight astringency. Good structure but requires a more red fruited presence on the palate I feel. A well credentialed producer from Martinborough better known for their high quality individual Cuvées like Kupe. Long time wine maker is Australian Larry McKenna. Footnote: Just discovered that Escarpment is now owned by Torbreck Vintners (South Australia). — 4 years ago
Solid product, but lacks depth. Heat is pleasant but not overpowering. The vanillin on the other hand is overpowering. — 6 years ago

Crisp and very floral. Strong aromas of grapefruit peach and lemon. Tart in the finish. Excellent! — 8 months ago
