@David White David, at least Adrian Sparks is the Chief Winemaker and has been at Mount Pleasant for a while. I met Adrian at a lunch at Mount Pleasant some years ago when he was assistant to the then highly credentialed Jim Chatto who has moved on to his own venture in Tasmania. The terroir at Mount Pleasant is so established and excellent I’m sure it will always be very good and as I say, Adrian is chief winemaker.

@Bob McDonald Thank you for detail on Adrian Sparks. I’m sure you are right that it will be ok, I need to research their latest releases and find a good independent retailer, my local guy who specialised in individual vineyards was bought out by BWS 😩

Regional Collection Clare Valley Riesling 2002

A mid lemon yellow in colour showing its age. Toasty aromas with mandarin skin. A fascinating palate of ripe grapefruit and mandarin flesh. One of life’s pleasures is to have a 20 year old Clare Valley Riesling from a great vintage. A little TDN but not full blown Kero. Just a brilliant aged Aussie dry Riesling. Couldn’t get enough of it. — 3 years ago

I didn't know they had vineyards in the Clare Valley. Sounds delightful.

Reserve 660 Hill Tops Cabernet Sauvignon 2017

I live in Washington state so I usually favor California Cabs over inexpensive Australian imports, but this one is totally competitive. A find. — 5 years ago

J.J. McWilliam Cabernet Merlot 2019

Very nice. Like a smooth caramel, smells a bit like licorice. And yes, I’m told that’s the correct spelling. — 4 years ago
