1/2025. Clean and crisp. Nice on the palate. Great with my popcorn. — a month ago
June 2024 disgorgement; would’ve preferred to pop this +12 months (vs. 6), as it would certainly benefit from some time. A grower BdB favorite; of course made from 100% Chardonnay, coming from several Grand Cru villages in the Côte des Blancs. The Cuvée de Réserve is a blend of more than twenty vintages, dating back to 1988 (via the solera method)! Peters considers this their “flagship” champ, even at the NV price point.
Firm upfront with a rather long finish. Sharp acidity; strong lemon, pale stone fruit, orange zest, and young tangerine notes. Medium body with pillows to carry you through. Steel vs. wood. 12% ABV. Simply delicious. — a month ago
The nose comes at you like a firehose filled with citrus, honey, apple and almond. Crazy concentration that causes your cheeks to bulge. Insane level of acidity but it still manages to release flavors of citrus , honey and toast. A palate saturating finish . Given the bear hug structure I’m amazed how giving the palate is. — 9 hours ago
Bright and dry, slightly effervescent at first opening. Notes of melon and stone fruit, but very light. We had it with scallops sauteed in butter and it was lovely. — a month ago
When Salon has some age that’s when it shows how special it is. It gains most notably in texture, aromatic complexity and really becomes singular in its expression of Mesnil Chardonnay. 2007 is in a beautiful spot, stunningly pure with incredible fruit and mineral definition and a finish that just stays with you. Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of several hours. The 2008 Special Club pours a straw color with a persistent mousse. On the nose, the wine is developing and somewhat shy but there’s citrus, white peach, brioche and a rather fascinating smell that reminded me of a built-up roof. On the palate, the wine is dry with high acid. Confirming the notes from the nose however here, it’s much richer and expansive. The finish is long. Young? Probably. Drink now through 2038. No disgorgement data. — 6 days ago
