I guessed French wine with a vintage around 2010-2012. Very nice Italian merlot. There was a dustiness characteristic to the red and black fruit with swisher sweet like tobacco. Very fun to try next to my Long Shadows Pedestal as they were about as different as can be! Thanks @Benjamin Keator — 6 years ago

Any Dom Rosé deserves its own pedestal but 2008 is arguably the best vintage yet. Looking over my notes from 2000 and 2006 this has more balance and fínese if it is even possible. Shows hints of wild red berries, the acidity is surrounds the palate perfectly, and the finish is long and intense. Just lucky to have tasted this.

I called this 2012-2014 Napa merlot. Very balanced. Chalky tannins. Red, blue and black fruit. Aside from the Pedestal, I got more chocolate and dates here than the others. It wasn’t exuberant nor shy, just a nice “down the middle” wine. Thanks @Bill Makens — 6 years ago
Let's give this wine a fair shake. At 10am on a gloriously sunny morning, with 14 hours of air, a bratwurst and a half an avocado which adjoined this partner on the counter overnight, it's a joy to swig, straight from the bottle. A little chili oil and pink salt cut through the black crust on green fruit and gristle, and this velvet beauty cut them all up and placed them on a pedestal as a tenochtitlan-like offering to the sun gods of paso robles. Good morning. — 9 years ago
Springtime river rocks and a touch of citrus on the nose. Solid taste of pineapple. Some vanilla. A bit oily on the mouthfeel. A nice change from big Cali chardonnays. — 5 years ago
I was very impressed with their brut, but sadly not as much with the rosé. It is, however, still very good I probably just had it on a pedestal. Producer won't label its wines cava, which is probably a good idea because they are much more comparable to value growers Champagne and and nice Cremant. — 8 years ago

It's time for some Merlot on this #MerlotThursday. Let's bring Merlot back!
Dark Inky in color with a reddish/ purplish rim.
Fruity nose of black currants, black plums, cooked cherries, light dried fruits, cedar, light vanilla, herbs, licorice, spices, dark chocolates and light cola notes.
Full bodied and elegant, with medium acidity.
Dry and fruity on the palate with plums, black cherries, black currants, bitter herbs, earth, chocolates, cedar, eucalyptus, tobacco leaf, peppercorn and light vegetables.
Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cherries.
This is a wonderful Merlot from Columbia Valley. Soft and fruit forward. Rich and nicely balanced.
Good right out of the bottle, and better after 90 minutes of air time.
This 8 year old Merlot is complex and spicy. Really enjoyed the nose at this point, and the high alcohol is well integrated by now.
Easy drinking and a good sipping wine. Will continue to age nicely in the next 5 to 7 years.
I had this vintage a few times before, and it is always delicious. I just love Michel Rolland wines.
A blend of 75% Merlot, 21% Cabernet Sauvignon and 4% Petit Verdot. Aged for 22 months in French oak barrels (85% new).
14.9% alcohol by volume.
93 points.
