If I am ever in Italy I want to go to this winery. If the flavors in this wine reflect the local aromas, I’ll buy in!!! — 4 years ago
Another recommendation from my favorite wine shop. YUM!! — 10 years ago
This wine is almost old enough to drink wine (in the U.S.)! Saluti! 🍷
It hails from the Brunello di Montalcino DOCG region of Tuscany, Italy. 🇮🇹
It was produced from vines planted at 2,000 ft altitude above sea level. 🏔 It aged 4 years before release to the market, 3 of which were in oak casks and six months of which were in the bottle that sits before us right now. 👌👌
This wine is made from 100% Sangiovese, a grape, especially with the Brunello clone, that is known to produce a powerful wine with naturally high acidity, firm tannins, and expressive aromatics (built to age). 🍇
I could see it being an excellent pairing with roasted red meats or savory pasta dishes. 🥘
It has a deep garnet hue. 👁 Its nose offers developed aromas of baked black cherry, dried fig, sweet balsamic, roasted tomato, sandalwood, clove, nutmeg, cigar, tobacco, leather, mushroom, forest floor, and earth. 👃
On the palate this wine is dry, it has medium+ acidity, a medium body, medium alcohol, and medium(+) tannins, along with medium(+) flavors consistent with the nose. The finish lingers. 👄
What an opportunity to buy this aged beauty from Jim’s basement. Thank you, @h_obf @sommnow 🙏🙏🙏🙏

— 2 years ago
