The best Regent in Germany? I think so! Rich nose of cassis, raspberry, raspberry coulis, wild mint, exotic spice. Wet earth and extraordinary minerality. Love Max with serious red grapes that are heavy-ish. He does wonders also with Merlot. Palate is fresh, rich and dynamic. Amazing fruit density and purity. Wow some major tiny berry fruit intensity. Unreal sweetness and velvety tannins. Really sleek and well made. Liquid red velvet cake. Awesome concentration and freshness. For a wine this rich it’s remarkably fresh. Love this.
UPDATE: Beautiful nose today. Great improvement overnight. Floral, complex. Spacious. The huge fruit is not as intense and it’s really pretty. Palate is structured and deep. Really fine. Really elegant. Clean. This has vastly improved. 9.4 now. — 4 years ago
@Lyle Fass What a interesting hybrid grape. I’ve been interested in Regent and it’s parent Chambourcin. I think they can make excellent wines given the climate and the place. Need to try this!
