40 year old vines. Blend of Cab Franc and Petit Verdot. 13.5% abv. Feels so young for a 2016! Red berries, spice, raisin and fresh greens on the nose. Delicate palate, underripe raspberry and red currant, with a refined long herbal finish and bitter notes. Great soft, tingly tannins. Excellent Bordeaux, I have to say. St Julien style. 1 hour decant(some chunky/fine sediment). A splendid dark medium garnet with little bricking. On the nose: expressive perfumed nose with dark plum/cherry, currants,milk chocolate, baking spice, floral, wet forest floor, touch of roasted meat. Taste: silky, balanced, elegant wine that is singing at 20 years with dried red fruit, earth, chocolate, cedar, minerals, saline, and a spiced-tobacco-green bell pepper long finish. Lemon curd and a zesty acidity that lands with some sweetness and then bite.

Pairing with an avocado really mellowed this wine out and made it delicious.

2012. Fell in love with the aromas as soon as I pulled the cork. Cherry, raspberry, spice and earth. Light mouthfeel, but full flavor and enough acidity to pair great with a homemade Gosht Akbari. — 3 days ago
