Blackwood Valley Shiraz 2006

I was very happy with this surprise. Colour is dark red almost purple and beautiful like any intriguing Shiraz. Full bouquet of plums, blackberries and even candy! Tasting the first sip was like taking off the wrap of a lollie, full of blackberries and candied cherries and I might even say there was some spice in there ... A chilli pepper if you will. Good medium body but the flaw was in the back end of it. It is not a rounded wine; it has a bit of acidity in the aftertaste that does not allow it to complete the joyride. But then again ... That acidity kept me sipping once and again to get the bouquet and candy taste of the first sip. It did the trick! — 9 years ago
