Just phenomenal. And I am a Graach guy at Prum. More never and energy than WS. Nose is so ethereal. Lime zest, first of season green apple skins, slate, apricot, phyllo dough. So expressive. Some sweet rubber as well. Like brand new rubber boots. Palate is so elegant and concentrated but light yet almost middle weight and weightless. Huge fruit soak. Such purity. Perfect for a mid summer Tuesday night. — 2 months ago
Simply a brilliant Spätlese in a wonderful spot for early drinking at eight years of age, this 2016 Wehlener Sonnenuhr from S. A. Prum is a lighter example of the Prädikat, with a playful balance of apricots, nectarines and chamomile and zesty acidity that features limes and bitter orange. It produces a lovely harmony on the palate that serves as a reminder of how brilliant a style Spätlese can be in balancing Riesling’s acidity with its propensity toward a sweeter style. Would score a perfect 10 if not for the price. Big stone fruit. Great with spicy food. — 6 months ago
This is less sweet, and more straightforward, than the 2001 JJ Prum Wehlener Sonnenuhr Spatlese we drank recently, this is moderately sweet, nicely balanced, but the separator from the 2001 is the layers of depth and complexity of the 2001, although this is still quite good!! — 5 months ago
