Tropical

Merry Edwards

Russian River Valley Sauvignon Blanc 2022

Pale yellow with pleasing aromas of citrus and tropical fruits, adding in spice and some biscuit notes. On the palate complex palate of flavors, fresh fruit, pineapple, lemon, grapefruit, peaches and Asian pears. Slight earthiness with a smooth and creamy well balanced finish ending with a gentle yeasty character. Very nice! Consistent quality! Will age well! — 13 hours ago

Bevan Cellars

Dry Stack Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc 2022

An amazing Sauvignon Blanc with a great potential to age, enticing citrus notes with some powerful yet not overwhelming tropical fruit flavors. Great wood notes make this one very distinctive and expressive white from Sonoma. A bit hazy with some sediments which fall almost into a natural category of wines. However; it’s meant to improve as it ages. A bit not so common for a white from this region. Paired with seafood (salmon and tuna fish). Solid! — 5 months ago

Art Series Margaret River Chardonnay 2016

Unscrewed and poured; no formal notes. These friggen Chardonnays from Margaret River. I’ve been blinded on them too many times to count and I never call it right. Instead, I always seem to call a high acid grape like Riesling of Sauvignon Blanc. The fruit is sometimes tropical, always with citrus and sometimes is shows green apple and always with awesome minerals. Acid is squarely in the high category. They are lovely wines that just seem to throw me for a loop. If Chablis, the Mosel and Sancerre had a love child. Drink now and through 2036 easy. A fabulous pairing with lamb massaman, larb and papaya salad. How can they hide the 100% new French oak so well?! — 9 months ago

Mannequin California Chardonnay 2018

Okay okay okay it is slightly heavy on the alcohol with 15 % and lacking some acidity to balance that out however, the nose is to die for. Tropical fruit, butter, mango, pear, so the only thing then is the PQR and for that the bottle and the label come in play. Works for me, from time to time. — 5 months ago

Is there a story behind the label?

@Peter van den Besselaar from lokiwine.co.uk. “When asked what came first, the wine or the label, in case of Mannequin fit was a song that came first in the case of Mannequin: Nicki Minaj’s Roman’s Revenge and the line ‘You at a standstill, mannequin’. Phinney remembers thinking about the mannequin’s purpose in representing human form to showcase clothing. ‘Clothing, much like wine, evolves over time to reflect trends, nature and creative whims, yet the mannequins always remain static’ he says in the interview with The Drinks Business”
