Beautiful syrah that I will really have trouble identifying blindly. Ruby colour almost still purple even after 15 years, suggesting still beautiful years of ageing potential. On the nose, the bouquet is rich and intense, marked by the Bordeaux style, on a beautifully melted ageing with primary notes. The whole is rich and complex, between notes of black fruits (blackberry, blueberry, plum) tobacco ageing, chocolate, vanilla, cypress; evolved undergrowth notes and so on, it's a real taste journey!
— 3 years ago
Earthy, full bodied, not one of the dreadful tart reds. I’d happily drink it again! — 3 months ago
Big bold, dark fruit, slightly chalky — 9 months ago
Deep ruby color as expected. Animal nose leather, blood, mushrooms (ceps), which smells of sweat and sex. Deep supple mouth, with many shades dominated by black pepper; developing as tasting sips after sips with also fine floral notes and mineral touches: A real trip! The acid grid is now nuanced, it's to drink now.
— 2 years ago

Caymus-Wagoner family signature on this fine wine with Australian grapes and Caymus California wine-making. Blend of Grenache, Shiraz and other grapes of Australia, shipped to U.S. in chilled containers, reportedly maintaining freshness…aged in French Oak, bottled in 2018 - vintage is simply Red Schooner 1. In any event, the process produced a rich, full-bodied, big fruit but balanced wine with managed tannins…many attributes…better than several of Caymus own labeled wines. — 9 months ago
May be the best Malbec I’ve ever had. Smooth blackberry jam with ripe dark fruit, less bite than typical Malbecs. Would buy again. — 3 years ago
