Cocktail Series: King Cake Cocktail

Round-up your beads and grab your masks, because it's Mardi Gras! Falling on February 25 this year, Mardi Gras or “Fat Tuesday” is celebrated the day before Ash Wednesday. There are many iconic aspects of this pre-Lent celebration; however, there is one that stands out among the rest: King Cake. This dough and glaze covered treat hides a small porcelain or plastic baby inside that brings luck and prosperity to the recipient of the winning slice. What would you do if we told you that you could combine King Cake and alcohol in one glass? Get ready for the King Cake cocktail! There are many variations of this sweet concoction out there, so we recommend you pick the ingredients combo that speaks to you. Get ready to catch beads of information because we're providing you with the basics. You'll definitely need King Cake Vodka (if you don't have this on hand, grab cake and/or vanilla flavored vodka). For the next ingredient, some suggest Grand Marnier , while others follow the Amaretto path. Baileys Irish Creme is a consistent recommendation, while the half & half is optional depending on whether you want it on the creamier side. The last two must-haves are a dash of cinnamon on top and green, purple, and yellow sugar to decorate the glass. If you're serving these at a party, maybe drop a plastic baby in the bottom of one glass. The lucky recipient will be in for a surprise! Don't forget to pair this cocktail with none other than the King Cake itself. Happy Mardi Gras!
