Bright ruby-purple. Slightly high-toned, intensely fruity aromas of black cherry, blueberry nectar, vanilla and licorice. Plush, tactile and suave, with the superripe dark fruit flavors nicely framed by a mineral quality and polished tannins. Finishes long and creamy, with repeating and nicely lingering clean, dense fruity reminders. Lambrusco that will make believers out of those who do not. All that at only 11% alcohol. Dark bright straw. Very fresh and precise on the nose and palate, with lively harmonious acidity nicely lifting the lemon, apricot and spicy flavors. Really sings on the long, brisk finish. Permartina has always been Vallona’s most interesting white wine and it is no different this year. (Ian D'Agata, Vinous, Jan 2018)

Vivid moderately saturated ruby. Fresh scents of black cherry, strawberry, mocha and flowers. Then extremely clean and fresh on the palate, with a youthful, musclebound quality but also very precise concentrated red fruit and violet flavors. Finishes long with smooth tannins and outstanding balance. I can’t even begin to remember the last time I have had a Gutturnio so devoid of green streaks and so much fun to drink. Well done. A blend of 55% Barbera and 45% Croatina from vines planted in 1977; spends twelve months in large oak barrels and barriques. The label says 14% alcohol, but it tasted like it had fewer octanes than that to me. (Ian D'Agata, Vinous, Jan 2018)

Deep ruby. Bright ruby. Fresh aromas of blueberry, blackberry, and licorice, plus a complicating tarry nuance. Large-scaled, juicy and spicy, conveying lovely floral complexity to the flavors of dark berries, herbs and licorice. Finishes classically dry and broad with fine-grained tannins.
