Astonishingly good, especially at 4 hours decant. This is everything I could have ever hoped for as many other Napa 1997 wines seem to have held up poorly. Crimson red the color is more youthful than I would have expected. The nose at first was odd, almost synthetic like. That blew off after an hour and continually added layers of nuance. The palate showed red currants, blackberries, creme d'cassis and black cherry with pencil shavings and cedar notes. The palate was balanced with a heady and super long finish sporting 1+ minute. By far the best Cask 23 I have ever had. #slwc#cask23#stagsleap#1997#Winiarski — 11 years ago
