Malvasia Nera

Second take of this umbria light red a few months after. And I still love it. The nose is showing strawberry and raspberry, a bit of gun powder, a bit of flowery thing. It's actually more complex than I remembered. The palate is acid-driven, with nice raspberry and wild strawberry touches all along, a big nice width, a good nice mouthfeel that becomes tannic in the rear, changing completely the mouthfeel and powering a surprisingly big and complex finish for such a light-coloured red wine. It's fresh, textural, drying with caressing tannins, fruity and there is almost a tiny salty note in the rear. Perfect summer quaffable, chillable red Italian red.

A tiny bit of Brett on the nose, that blows away after a while. Strawberry, violet, a bit of soy sauce too. The wine is pretty light in colour, you can easily see your hand through it. The palate is delicious! It's a tangy red and black forest fruits bomb, complementing a strong acid drive. There is some width and a nice and soft mouthfeel that turns to a good tannic wall in the rear, but it's not overpowering, everything is in balance. There is a blood orange note in the finish, and a tiny salty touch, too that makes it very interesting to sip on. Moderately long finish. This screams low intervention but it is super well made. Thumbs up!
