Musky, gamey nose. Earth and forest, pine bark. This wine is taught and brooding, and yet there is sweetness at the core. Black cherries followed by black tea. If the Jean Grivot was a romp through a fairy tale forest, this is a more sinister tale, by the brothers Grimm. One wonders how, exactly, it will end.

Mar 16th, 2014Tasted March 2014. Bright, pale garnet tending towards clear at rim. Medium to low viscosity. Fresh nose but subtle, with Ranier cherry, cranberry, and ripe raspberry layered on a bready sort of earth tone. Light body and plenty of acidity, with gentle red fruit notes (tart cherry, unripe tart pluot, ripe blood orange juice) and long finish that tastes like freshly-turned grey sandy soil smells.
