Frankly fantastic. One of the best Hautes Côtes de Nuits I’ve tasted #hautescotesdenuits #bourgogne #cotedor #cotesdenuits #aurelienverdet #burgundy

A medium ruby hue with lavender highlights and a thin brim. The nose opens with some earthy notes that only intensify over time. The bright red fruits take over with notes of ripe cherries and blackberries. A day later and that’s when the mint, milky chocolate, and stone minerality sets in.

This is not an overly complex or expensive village Burgundy, but it’s amazing how it blows the doors off of similarly priced domestic Pinots. Not very deep but highly expressive with the rich fruit coming to the fore. Just the right amount of funk to keep me happy and some nice acid.

The palate follows the nose but brighter and with a tad more intensity. Mushroom compote, tart cherries, and woodsmoke. Stewed plums and more beautiful dirt. Spice and red fruit on the medium long finish. This reminds you just what a very decent Burgundy can do for you.
