Like many effective Virginia reds, this has serious complexity on a decidedly middleweight frame. Black fruit (blackberry, bramble), underripeness (bell pepper), sweet spice (nutmeg), pungent spice (black pepper, licorice), oak (vanilla, toast), animal (leather, farmyard), and maturity (wet leaves, tobacco). This has a couple rough edges upon opening, which resolve within an hour from aeration
