Mar 17th, 2019First experience with Madeira and it's actually not bad. Malmsey (malvasia) is at the sweeter end of the spectrum, this is aged 5 years in the traditional canteiro method. Burnt caramel, dates, prunes, banana, and pralines on the nose. More pralines and cream on the palate, a touch of musk and a balanced sweetness and acidity. The finish has a weird burnt rubber note which I'm sure can be attributed to the meaningful oxidation.
