Bodegas El Nido
Clio Jumilla Monastrell-Cabernet Sauvignon Blend
I've been waiting on this for a few years now. This...this wine is my sh*t. When this hits your lips, you know it's something special. Reminds me of the 2001 Whitehall Lane Reserve Cab. The masters of Jumilla Monastrell, the Gil Family has created something so freakin good that it becomes harder & harder for us retailers to get our hands on it each year. Such small allocations are distributed amongst us in CT that when they drop it off, it exits the building. This is the demand we have created & it is so worth it. Just my opinion of course. Monastrell & Cab blend with loads of dark plum, dark berries smothered in black pepper, brick and ash flavors. Almost like pit smoked bbq in your mouth without the wet wipes for clean up.

Jul 27th, 2014Second of three bottles for a surf-and-turf bbq, and this one paired beautifully with the “turf” component: tri-tip steak. Blood-red ruby coloring, deep stone fruits and berries, and earthy spices continued to open and soften, offering a more velvety mouthfeel with each sip.

Jul 6th, 2018Better than previous bottle with the EtOH being a bit more in check. Still a dense purple drink loaded with oak and alcohol.

Mar 8th, 2018Nicely balanced. This is one of the least oaky Clios I've had. I was expecting an oak monster and instead got treated to a beautiful Mediterranean rich and complex red. A mythical cross between a Mourvèdre heavy CDP and a Paso Rhine ranger. Reminded me of why there was a time when I loved these Clios.

Oct 10th, 2016Moving away from this style, but well made and reasonably balanced. Dark sweet fruits (blackberry , blueberry), vanilla and smoke. Round wine with integrated tannins and Med acid.
