Feb 25th, 2016Sangiovese with 10-20% of cabernet--called "uva francesca" locally--and both express themselves beautifully. There is plenty of sour cherry, plum, and green tea Sangiovese here, and the cabernet fruit adds a darker blackberry and leather nuance. The heady aroma and intense flavors are nicely supported by felty tannins, bright but integrated acidity, and a silky medium-weight body.
